• Serve as Health Science Specialist for the VA Biorepository Trust in the Research Service Line at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System, Tucson, AZ.
• Serve in a scientific/technical director role and develop and manage a variety of procedures that use molecular, pathology, and histology techniques along with scientific experimentation, scientific consultation, scientific/technical writing, teaching, laboratory organization, and staff coordination.
• Develop policies, procedures, and criteria for the administration of the VA Biorepository and organization’s health science research program.
• Systematically evaluate research directed toward a fuller scientific knowledge of tissue biorepository technology and application of tissue to studies of disease processes.
• Prepare related Institutional Review Board/Human Subjects protocols and approval forms.
• Manage implementation, control, and reporting on research tests involving clinical specimens.
• Perform work in establishing policies and procedures by which the research program will be judged.
• Monitor and evaluate research program content and findings for novelty and potential application to related health science fields and tissue biorepositories.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
