The Materials Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a candidate for a postdoctoral position within the Synchrotron Radiation Studies group.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated and bright individual for a postdoctoral position in the area of synchrotron x-ray. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and implementing research programs in the areas of in situ surface/nanoscale energy sciences using synchrotron x-rays. The appointee is expected to effectively use synchrotron x-ray techniques available at Advanced Photon Source (APS) and tools available at Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) in close collaboration with senior scientists and other experts in the program. Although the experience with synchrotron x-ray scattering is desirable, it is not necessary. Candidates with a strong background in surface/interface science, in surface electrochemistry, or in experimental condensed matter physics are also encouraged to apply.

The research will involve close interactions with a number of scientists with diverse expertise, and the candidate can expect to be exposed to a broad range of ideas and techniques.

Candidates must have received a Ph.D. in a discipline relevant to the research area (physics, materials science, chemistry) within the last three years or expected to receive Ph.D. within the next six months.
