The Chemical Dynamics Group at Argonne National Laboratory focuses on theoretical and experimental research related to combustion chemistry. A postdoctoral position is available in the group to investigate the elementary chemistry of ignition and pollutant formation at conditions relevant to the next generation of engines. The position will primarily focus on the design and commissioning of a novel, miniature high pressure reactor and the design of interfaces to couple the reactor to a variety of analytical devices, including those at user facilities such as the Advanced Photon Source and Advanced Light Source.

The successful applicant will ideally have a PhD in chemistry, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline with a strong experimental background. Considerable experience with computational fluid dynamics and the design of experimental equipment is desired. Experience working at beamlines in particular with SAXS or VUV-photoionization would be beneficial. Ideally, applicants will also have experience in programming with LabView, Visual Basic and Fortran. Good communication skills are essential.
