Position Description. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Assistant Professor of Geology will have expertise in geoscience education or low-temperature geochemistry. The successful candidate may come from either specialty and will be selected based on their fit with the Department’s needs. The individual selected will teach advanced courses appropriate to their discipline, and will share responsibility for courses in environmental geology, physical geology, and associated laboratories. The position is a 9-month appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications:
• A PhD in geology or a closely related discipline must be completed by the position starting date of August 1, 2010.
• Research specialty in geoscience education or low-temperature geochemistry.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Research interests in the Atlantic Coastal Plain.
• Application of GIS in research.
• Prior undergraduate teaching experience.
