As a leader of BioPolymer technology development for products and align with business needs to include support of all technical operations in North America for the present and future which includes responsibility for Pharmaceutical, Food ingredients and specialty businesses.

This role will direct a talented R&D Group, including associated external programs, to expand product line technologies, and to coordinate activities across the division with Applications, Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Regulatory, IP and Process groups. The main responsibilities will include generating new product functionality, product and process development for cost reduction and people development, safety and environmental oversight, input on regulatory and IP, technology strategy development, and management of the Core Technology development pipe line and project portfolio.

Education Requirements
• Masters degree in a science related field

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical or Bio-Engineering, Polymer Science, Natural Sciences or Pharmaceutical Science preferred

Requirements
• 10-15 years industrial experience in Pharmaceutical, Food Ingredients or Personal Care Product Development.
• Experience at the core ingredient level, with work in formulated/functional systems desirable.
• Familiarity with hydrocolloids, excipients, coatings or cosmetic ingredients
• Process Development experience including scale-up
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, operations, costing, and quality systems desirable
• Project Management: demonstrated capability in project management including management of fairly large capital projects, or extensive development programs
• Regulatory / Quality: working knowledge of regulatory issues and quality management in the Food and/or Pharmaceutical or Personal Care Industries
• Leadership: group leader experience (or equivalent) which required coordination and direction of people, must have experience in leading cross functional teams; strong people management skills
• Portfolio Management: working knowledge is desirable
• Commercial Development: must have experience working with marketing and customers
• Business and financial analysis: ability to create financial models for product/process development; ability to evaluate new opportunities
• International experience; highly desirable
• Multi-cultural environment: ability to coordinate projects requiring input and cooperation from global employees
• Must be willing to travel up to 30% of the time, including international travel
