FMC is currently seeking a Product Innovation Formulations Manager to join their Agricultural Products Group (APG) located in Princeton, NJ. In this key leadership role, you will be able to utilize your knowledge and experience, expand your expertise and further develop your career.

The position is accountable for leading multi-disciplinary chemical composition and formulation research teams as well as the synthesis and scale-up of new Proof of Concept product ideas. This includes leading the operations of on-site formulation laboratories and leading research activities at Contract Research Organizations. The individual will also liaise directly with the Biology Evaluation and Strategic Marketing groups to design and prioritize testing and generate and interpret data for the development of compounds and regulatory data requirements.

Delivering results using out of the box thinking and resources, maintains internal and external networks of information and utilizes overall scientific understanding to create and develop novel formulations to achieve value propositions and commercially viable innovations. Works safely in a team environment to lead and raise the capability of staff members in the Product Innovation Formulations group.

• Lead the development of agricultural product solutions based on unique, platform technologies. Lead the development of new test protocols and align methods with decision goals.
• Ensure resources are properly aligned to value propositions and overall project goals and timelines to guarantee success.
• Manage chemical composition and formulation chemists to meet aggressive objectives.
• Partner with Project and Portfolio Managers, the Biology Evaluations Manager, Area Development Managers and Strategic Marketing Managers on all aspects of technical support, protocol generation, chemical test requests, timelines, and data requirements.
• Efficiently interpret data and provide valuable insights and recommendations for product enhancements.
• Provide technical leadership to encourage and develop scientific rigor resulting in crisp experimental design with pertinent and viable results.
• Recruit, develop and coach to raise the bar and produce a high caliber team.
• Provide effective, timely and sound technical support to meet and exceed project objectives.
• Work safely, in full observance of FMC safety and environmental plans and policies, and foster a strong commitment to safety and overall environmental responsibility.

Educational Requirements
- PhD in Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with experience in polymer, surface, reactions or colloidal sciences at least 5 years management experience.
- Or MS in similar disciplines with at least 10 years management experience.

Requirements
5-10 yrs experience in managing internal and external formulation laboratory operations.
• Understanding of economic, competitive, and practical use factors affecting opportunities in agricultural markets preferred. Working knowledge of current commercial standards in agricultural and specialty crops is preferred.
• Knowledge of commercial scale-up and high manufacturing processing at the plant level.
• Demonstrated skills in project management, and its application to product development.
• Effective communication, both oral and written, and listening skills, and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong interpersonal savvy with a strong drive for results and problem solving.
• Thorough understanding and practices of laboratory safety operations.
• Proven capability in effectively managing and developing employees.
• Familiarity with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software packages; familiarity with Microsoft Project Server a plus. Understanding and practical application of pertinent statistical analyses.
