This key research leadership position is accountable for leading multi-disciplinary applied and basic biology research teams, overseeing the operations of on-site biology laboratories and greenhouse facilities, and directing the Research Station located in Sparks, GA in the support of identifying, developing and commercializing crop and specialty fungicides, insecticides and herbicides. The successful candidate will use their understanding of agri-economic factors, competitive products, and practical use factors affecting opportunities in agricultural markets to integrate the knowledge and insights from the research into new products. The position is accountable for guiding the implementation of global field trial programs, leading research activities at Contract Research Organizations, and directing field trial management processes. The individual will also liaison directly with the Formulations and Strategic Marketing groups to design and prioritize testing, generate data for the development of compounds and regulatory data requirements.

Delivering results using out of the box thinking and resources, internal and external networks of information and overall scientific understanding to improve bio-efficacy to achieve value propositions and commercially viable innovations is the expectation for the individual in this senior-level role. Working safely in a team environment you will lead and raise the capability of staff members in Applied Biology, Technology Enhancement, Production Services, and Research Station groups.

· Lead the development of agricultural product solutions based on unique, platform technologies.
· Driving the development of new products by integrating a full understanding of agri-economic factors, competitive, and practical use factors affecting opportunities in agricultural markets.
· Lead the development of new test protocols and align methods with decision goals.
· Ensure resources are properly aligned to value propositions and overall project goals and timelines to guarantee success.
· Manage biologists, including direction of the research effort at the Research Station, to meet aggressive objectives.
· Liaison with Project and Portfolio Managers, Area Development and Formulations Managers and Strategic Marketing Managers on all aspects of technical support, protocol generation, bioassay/field test requests, timelines, and data requirements.
· Efficiently interpret data and provide valuable insights and recommendations for product enhancements.
· Provide technical leadership to encourage and develop scientific rigor resulting in crisp experimental design with pertinent and viable results.
· Expertise in recruiting, developing and coaching to raise the bar and produce a high caliber team.
· Pride effective, timely and sound technical support to meet and exceed project objectives.
· Work safely, in full observance of FMC safety and environmental plans and policies, and foster a strong commitment to safety and overall environmental responsibility.

Educational Requirements

MS or PhD in an agricultural science for example Entomology, Plant Pathology, or Weed Science, with particular concentration in agricultural crops with at least 10+ years experience in agricultural product development of which 5 is in research leadership.

Requirements

Experience in managing laboratory, greenhouse, and field evaluations with fungicides, insecticides, and/or herbicides.

· Understanding of economic, competitive, and practical use factors affecting opportunities in agricultural markets. Working knowledge of current commercial standards in agricultural and specialty crops.
· Understanding of field translation issues and objectives, and experience with appropriate equipment and techniques.
· Demonstrated skill and utility of project management, and application to product development.
· Effective communication, both oral and written, and listening skills, and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
· Strong interpersonal savvy with a strong drive for results and problem solving.
· Thorough understanding and practices of laboratory and greenhouse safety operations.
· Proven capability in effectively managing and developing employees.
· Familiarity with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software packages; familiarity with Microsoft Project Server a plus. Understanding and practical application of pertinent statistical analyses.
