The Department of Biology in the College of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Aquatic Ecologist at the Assistant Professor rank. Position Description. The position reports to the department chair and is part of a College-level initiative to create an interdisciplinary research program exploring the science of the Southeastern Coastal Plain. It is expected that the successful candidate will contribute to the department by teaching courses at various levels (non-majors and majors). The 9-month appointment begins August 1, 2010, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Screening of completed applications will begin November 1, 2009, and continue until the position is filled.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in the Biological Sciences by December 31, 2009, demonstrated excellence in research and the ability to attract extramural funding. Preference will be given to those working on freshwater systems and who can develop an interdisciplinary research program in the coastal plain involving collaborations with faculty in other departments of the College.
