Job Title: Military Health Services Analyst and Researcher, PhD Level
Description:

RTI International’s Substance Abuse Epidemiology and Military Behavioral Health Program is seeking a Ph.D. social scientist with experience in military mental health to support current projects and pending awards. Projects include mental health surveillance and screening, cross-sectional health behavior studies of active-duty and reserve personnel, and longitudinal studies of risk and protective factors, including resilience and combat and operational stress control.

Responsibilities:

The applicant will also help develop a research portfolio in mental health epidemiology, interventions, and program evaluation and will provide leadership and guidance to research studies relating to mental health in military populations through the following:

• Obtaining research funding from new grants and contracts.
• Enhancing the professional prestige and external recognition of RTI through peer-reviewed publications.
• Utilizing survey, program evaluation, and intervention approaches to mental health research in military populations as needed.
• Motivating, mentoring, and supervising mid- and junior-level research staff.
• Providing leadership and vision in further developing work in prevention, intervention,
surveillance, screening and epidemiologic studies of military mental health.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in psychology, epidemiology, public health, or a related field.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work successfully in multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong skills in quantitative analysis of complex data, program evaluation, and proposal and report writing.
• Experience working with military or veteran populations and/or databases
