In order to give student the opportunity to gain experience in an internationally known research lab, we welcome trainees in our laboratory. The extensive range of methods we apply and the innovative field of cell biological and biochemical research, which we represent, should ensure that your time in our lab is will be a very interesting and stimulating experience. We care sincerely for an excellent atmosphere in our lab. Thus, your time with us also should be characterized by the fun science can be.

The aim of our research team is to gain a molecular understanding of how the actin cytoskeleton is interconnected to membrane transport processes and to reveal the cell and developmental importance and mechanisms of such a functional cooperation. In order to do so, we use all modern methods of molecular biology, genetics protein biochemistry and cell biology.

Usually we welcome up to two summer students/lab trainees at a time in our group to ensure that there is intense scientific and personal care. We recommend joining our lab for at least about 6-8 weeks (longer stays are preferred and lead to a higher chance that your application succeeds). We have set the minimum limit at 6-8 weeks to ensure that on one side you will learn different techniques but that you will on the other side also develop some independence and routine in your work.
Projects can usually be extended for subsequent diploma, master or doctoral theses, respectively.

The Institute for Biochemistry I at the FSU was completely rebuilt and is a modern place for cutting-edge scientific work right in the city center.

Applicants should be students of Life Sciences (i.e. for example of Biology, Molecular Medicine or Biochemistry) and in the second half of their university education.
