Job Title: A Mechanistic Link between DNA Damage, Chromatin, and Aging, Dr. Philipp Oberdoerffer
Description:

Two postdoctoral positions are available in the Epigenetics of DNA Repair and Aging Section of the Mouse Cancer Genetics Program. The main interest of the laboratory is to understand how DNA damage and its repair affect the (epi-)genome over a lifetime, and how these changes impinge on tissue homeostasis, cancer, and aging. Current projects focus on (i) the role of SIRT1 and other chromatin modifiers in DNA repair and mutagenesis and (ii) the impact of age-related, DNA damage-induced chromatin reorganization on (stem) cell function and malignant transformation.

Projects include genome-wide chromatin modification analyses, DNA repair assays, (microarray-based) gene expression profiling, and chromatin immunoprecipitation, using both cell-based systems and mouse models.

The laboratory is located on the Frederick campus of NCI with state-of-the-art facilities in functional genomics, deep sequencing, mouse transgenics, small animal imaging, and other areas (http://web.ncifcrf.gov/default.asp).

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent, have no more than five years of postdoctoral experience. In addition, qualified candidates should have strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated record of scientific achievement through peer-reviewed publications. Individuals with a strong background in molecular biology and experience with mouse models are encouraged to apply. Expertise in bioinformatics, microarray analysis, and data management is a plus. Successful, well-motivated candidates will join a highly interactive, interdisciplinary team of researchers with diverse backgrounds and expertise in a collaborative scientific environment.

Interested individuals should click on the button below or send a two-page statement of research interests and career goals, a curriculum vitae and bibliography, and three letters of reference to:
