The Architecture team at E*Trade Financial is looking for a Principal Engineer to lead and collaborate with one of E*Trade Financial's core development teams. The individual, along with peers in the Architecture team will set direction for the firm's Application Lifecycle Management, Development Tools, Core Software Architectures and Development Practices. The candidate will be responsible for partnering with development teams to understand their development practices and project inventories. The responsibility of the core architect will be to represent the needs of the development areas being supported and, along with peer architects, creating strategies to improve E*Trade's development and application lifecycle while addressing the challenges of a diverse universe of projects and developers. The candidate will act as a consultant to his/her development teams on all development projects and will advise the development teams on the proper use of core technologies. The candidate will work in a fast-paced environment to drive the team to deliver innovative products. As part of our strategic direction, open-source technologies are used extensively to provide leading-edge solutions. The role will require performing some level of troubleshooting and issue resolution, and work closely with internal and external team members to meet those demands. The candidate will also mentor and coach team members and provide technical leadership through the entire development life cycle of the product. The role will require extensive experience in design and development on the Unix/Linux platform and excellent programming skills in c,c++, and Java.
