Georgia Southern University, a member institution of the University System of Georgia, invites nominations and applications for the position of assistant professor in the Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development in the College of Education.
Position Description. Reporting to the department chair, the assistant professor of Educational Leadership’s responsibilities, include teaching courses in Educational Administration and Leadership, advising doctoral students, conducting scholarly research and publishing, and providing service to the University, community, and profession. The position is a 9-month appointment with summer employment opportunities, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience
Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, or a related area by August 1, 2010 Work experience in either K-12 or Higher Education Evidence of course work and/or scholarly work employing quantitative research methods Ability to teach graduate courses on-campus, off-campus, and online Ability to advise graduate students, conduct scholarly research, publish, and perform service to the University and profession Ability to work with diverse student populations Ability to use and model technology Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and candidates
Preferred Qualifications: Higher education teaching, scholarship, and service experience Previous membership on doctoral dissertation committees Experience teaching using distance education technology Established research agenda and publication history Contribution to grant submissions and administration of grants
