The Department of Language and Literature at Florida Gulf Coast University invites applicants for an Assistant Professor position in African Diaspora Literature beginning August 2010. Potential candidates should have academic preparation in the literature of the African Diaspora broadly construed to include writers of African descent in the U.S. and/or from African, Caribbean or Latin American cultures. The position carries a three course teaching load per semester in literature and composition. Ph.D. in English, Africana Studies, or Comparative Literature, teaching experience and an active research agenda are required. The ability to teach postcolonial theory is desirable.
