Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Cellulosic Biofuel Crop Genetics
Description:

A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Grass Breeding and Genetics Laboratory, Plant and Soil Sciences Department at Oklahoma State University.  Research can begin immediately.  A highly motivated candidate is expected to work on NSF-EPSCoR funded research projects of genetic linkage analysis, QTL (Quantitative Trait Loci) mapping, and characterization of the genes or genomic regions for important economic traits in perennial grass species including switchgrass.  Switchgrass is being developed as a cellulosic biofuel crop for producing economically viable ethanol in the United States.  This is an ideal opportunity for developing publications and future professional development.  This is a two-year position, but second-year reappointment is contingent upon performance, need, and available funding.  The position will be subject to review at the end of first year.  Requirements: Ph.D. in plant genetics and breeding, molecular biology, and closely related disciplines with experience in plant genomics and excellent molecular laboratory skills.  Excellent communication skills, ability to work in a multicultural environment  and a strong publication record demonstrating expertise in a range of molecular marker techniques and molecular mapping are required for this position.  Demonstrated understanding of applications of molecular marker tools and technologies in new cultivar development in perennial grass species is basic.  Ability to perform statistical analyses using SAS and field experiments would be desirable.  Interested applicants should send a cover letter of application including statement of purpose, qualifications, research experience, and future goals, current resume including publication list, and name, email address, and phone number of three references.  Applications and questions related to the application process should be preferably be sent by email to yanqi.wu@okstate.edu or addressed to Dr. Yanqi Wu, Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, 368 AG Hall, Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK 74078.  Review of applications will start immediately and continue until a suitable candidate is identified.  Oklahoma State University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity/E-Verify employer committed to diversity. OSU-Stillwater is a tobacco-free campus.
