Job Title: Low Level Network Programmer, Auto-Electronic Market Making (NY)
Description:

Responsibilities:
· Performance tuning and system analysis at all levels. Design, implementation,
and monitoring of network infrastructure capable of transporting up to several
million real-time messages per second with microsecond latency, Linux kernel
level performance tuning, storage system throughput analysis, hardware
performance benchmarking, and trading application latency measurement.
· Administering our extensive Linux-based research cluster with over a thousand
CPU cores using our Grid management software
· Supporting and monitoring our extensive Linux-based production cluster with
over a thousand CPU cores with proprietary distributed system management
software
· Managing petabytes of research and production financial time series data using
both centralized and highly distributed storage
· Installation and customization of open source project management and
productivity software
· Working with technology and quantitative teams to maintain and expand our set
of proprietary tools that manage our trading and research operations
· Benchmarking next generation hardware and software and conducting feasibility
studies for their application to our existing system
· Helping to decide and implement multi-million dollar annual IT budget

Qualifications:
· BS, MS, or PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science or other technical fields
· Previous experience in software engineering and/or operational support
· Previous experience in systems integration and engineering, especially storage
and network-related
· High level of expertise in systems programming (Linux, database systems –
Oracle, Sybase SQL, MySQL, SQLite)
· High level of expertise in a variety of scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Awk, Bash)
· Interest and aptitude in mathematics and finance is preferred
· Familiarity with automated trading systems and financial industry is preferred
· High level of responsibility and accountability
· Ability to work independently in a high-pressure, time-critical environment
· Must be a team player who works well with technologists, quantitative scientists, and business managers.
· Ability to multitask effectively
· Must be detail-orientated
· Must have strong communications skills, both verbal and written
