The Photonics Research Center the Hong Kong Polytechnic University is currently looking for Post-Doctoral fellows in the area of fiber-optic communications and sensing. In particular, a background in coherent communications and/or performance monitoring with DSP-based signal processing is preferred. The candidate will be largely responsible for the investigation of signal processing techniques for mitigation of transmission impairments such as fiber nonlinearity, PMD and carrier phase noise and their associated monitoring techniques. However, researchers with expertise in fiber-optic sensors such as FBG are also welcomed. The candidate is also expected to develop and demonstrate leadership skills through the supervision of Ph.D. students and research assistants.The PolyU Photonics Research Center is home to state-of-the art facilities for experimental research in 100Gb/s long-haul transmissions as well as fiber-optic sensing devices. In addition, we also recently acquired a fiber drawing tower and will be conducting experimental research in photonic crystal fibers.
