Forbes Magazine rated Claflin University in 2008 as the No 1. Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in the country. The Department of Biology invites applications for two 9-month tenure-track faculty positions in the areas of general Biology and cancer biology (prostate and breast cancer). In addition to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, the candidate will be responsible for developing an independently fundable research program for undergraduate and masters’ level student training in their areas of expertise.  Faculty members at Claflin find that there is a very comfortable balance between teaching and research with some service and a high priority on your own professional development. The new faculty member will get the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative atmosphere with our faculty who have been very successful at grant writing.  Our departmental research facilities are far beyond many of our peer institutions. The position requires a Ph.D. degree in Biological Sciences or related fields and a diverse and innovative teaching style is desirable. Rank is dependent upon level of experience.
