National Center for Voice and Speech (NCVS) has recently moved its headquarters to the University of Utah and has an opening for Post Doctoral Research Associate. As a Post Doctoral Research Associate, you will be part of a multi-site interdisciplinary research group that studies all aspects of understanding and enhancing vocal communication. Experts in the vocal sciences and arts bring rich perspectives to this endeavor. NCVS investigators have long understood that a consortium of institutions is best able to acquire and maintain resources to fulfill these missions than a single organization.
The internal mission of the NCVS is to continue to foster cross-disciplinary research, reinforce the training of new scientists and clinicians, uphold scientific integrity, and report scientific progress to research colleagues. In short, the goal is for every member to become stronger within his/ her discipline by affiliation with the NCVS.

Responsibilities
POST DOC 1 (SIMULATION)
Responsibilities
1. Maintenance, ordering parts, performing repairs for assigned research projects.
2. Support the operation of a voice simulator.
3. Implement new simulation scenario scripts.
4. Simulation architect for studies- implement and validate scenarios appropriate for evaluating technologies and running the simulations during the study evaluation.
5. Contribute to the documentation and publication of the simulation.
6. Report progress and developments in peer reviewed publications.
7. Write and edit research grant applications.


POST DOC 2 (Bioreactor)
Responsibilities
1. Maintenance, ordering parts, performing repairs for assigned research projects.
2. Designing and building of electronic interface and software interfaces of a second generation high frequency bioreactor.
3. Contribute to the documentation and publication of equipment.
6. Report progress and developments in peer reviewed publications.
7. Write and edit research grant applications.
Qualifications
Minimum of a PhD degree in engineering, biology, chemistry or other scientific discipline. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

POST DOC 1 (SIMULATION)
1. Ph.D. degree in computer and/or biomedical engineering or equivalent.
2. Programming experience (C++, Java, MATLAB) and visualization experience.
3. Must be familiar with physical simulation.
4. Must be familiar with clinical study protocols, data collection, and analysis techniques.
Highly desirable: experience with FORTRAN, basic understanding of human anatomy, experience with Web development tools, flow simulation.

POST DOC 2 (Bioreactor)
1. Ph.D. degree in computer and/or biomedical engineering or equivalent.
2. Understanding of electromechanical control, designing and conducting tests to validate performance of electromechanical devices, and conceptualizing new test fixtures and test modalities.
3. Must be familiar with clinical study protocols, data collection, and analysis techniques.
Highly desirable: Experience in cellular biology, Programming experience (e.g. C++, Java, MATLAB).
Work Schedule
Daytime, flexible depending on experiment

This position requires successful completion of a drug test and criminal background check.
