Job Title: Cancer Stem Cell Biology, Dr. Robert Wersto
Description:

Cancer Stem Cell Biology

Department of Health and Human Services
National Institutes of Health
National Institute on Aging

The National Institute on Aging (NIA), a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is recruiting for a postdoctoral position in the Flow Cytometry Unit, Research Resources Branch (RRB). Core laboratories in the Branch provide specialized research support services essential to the mission of the Intramural Research Program.

The research is in the fields of hematopoetic and cancer stem cells, and will focus on understanding the role of drug importers and exporters as markers for these self-renewing cells, the role of chromatin structure, and the development of these populations within diverse aneuploid tumors translating to an effective response to anticancer therapies. The Flow Cytometry Unit is equipped with multiple state-of-the art instruments for high speed, multi-color sorting and serves as a beta-site for an iCyt Highly Automated Parallel Sorting (HAPS) multiple-headed sorter housed in a BL-2 biological safety cabinet for analysis of virally-infected samples.

Interested candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D. with less than five years of postdoctoral experience and research experience in cell biology, immunology, or molecular biology. Previous exposure to flow cytometry would be advantageous. Salary is commensurate with experience and accomplishments. A background investigation is required. The position is located in Baltimore, MD, a city with a stimulating scientific and cultural environment, and has proximity to the Johns Hopkins medical campus.
