We are looking for a dynamic individual with strong experimental skills in the field of optics, who will carry out innovative experiments on nanostructures. The expected research investigation is related to ongoing activities on novel semiconductor materials for energy applications devices.

The group employs ultrafast amplified laser systems, low-temperature equipment and atomic force microscopy to study charge and energy transfer devices for electricity generation such as solar cells or solar thermoelectric generators. Prospective candidate will employ and further develop ultrafast transient thermoreflectance (TTR) techniques in both the time- and frequency-domain to study nanoscale transport and interface effects in materials such as nanocomposites, superlattices and nanowires.

Requirements:
Prospective candidates should have a PhD in a related field. Prior hands-on experience in modern ultrafast optical techniques such as femtosecond pump-probe/photoluminescence up-conversion and/or single molecule fluorescence spectroscopy in addition to cryogenics and instrumentation programming (Labview) is preferable. There is no citizenship requirement. The position is available from the beginning of March 2010 for a 1 year period with the possibility for extension up to 2 years.
