We are looking for an experienced postdoctoral researcher in the field of organic solar cell device fabrication/ characterization. Candidates with extensive research experience in organic solar cells (OSC) / organic photovoltaics (OPV) will be given preference. Candidates with experience in organic light emitting diodes (OLED) and organic field effect transistors (OFET) will be considered as well. The successful candidate will perform cutting edge research in a newly established lab including a class 1000/100 clean room equipped with a wide range of fabrication/characterization facility. First-rate shared institute facilities are also available including UV-Photolithography systems, e-Beam Lithography, FIB, various deposition and etching systems, HR-TEMs, SEMs, AFMs, XRFs, XPSs, XRD, Raman & FTIR Spectrometers, Physical properties measurement system and ellipsometers. The group has strong collaborations with international institutes (e.g. Princeton University) as well as industrial partners (e.g. Merck). Requirement: PhD in Experimental Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. Research experience in organic solar cells (OSC) / organic photovoltaics (OPV) / organic light emitting diodes (OLED) / organic field effect transistors (OFET) will be highly desirable. Successful candidates will receive competitive salary and extensive benefits. Among many other benefits, housing allowance will be provided to cover up to 80% of the rent (max. housing allowance 60k Japanese Yen/month). About Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST): The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) will become a model for change in education and research with the best international graduate students, working side by side with world-class faculty in modern well-equipped laboratories. Beautifully situated on the island of Okinawa, OIST relies on a cross-disciplinary approach, with an emphasis on creativity and exchange, to offer unique, individualized graduate training. OIST is a university with no departments, eliminating artificial barriers between people working in different fields, but many nationalities, with students and faculty being attracted from all over the world. Concentrating initially on Neuroscience, Molecular Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Environmental and Ecological Sciences and Physical Sciences, OIST is bringing some of the best brains in the world to Okinawa to transform the way science and education is done in the global academic world.

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST PC) was established in September 2005 to conduct "best in the world" research and education in science and technology, and to prepare the ground for the creation of a new graduate University in Okinawa. Our concept was to grow the project out of interdisciplinary research in areas that integrate components from biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics and computation science. OIST provides a world-class research environment in newly completed facilities in an area of distinctive culture, unique ecology, and outstanding natural beauty. OIST is committed to being international with more than 50% of faculty and researchers from outside Japan. The official language of OIST is English. OIST is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer and encourages applications from women.
OIST P.C. is unique in that we are a Japanese government-funded agency, but maintain independence in developing and conducting our research and academic programs. We are fortunate to be located in Okinawa in an area of outstanding natural beauty and to receive strong support from central and local governments to help us in our work of developing a research environment for world-class research and education programs.
We drive towards excellence, and we are committed to developing programs to enable outstanding researchers to be given the opportunity to conduct independent research and to excel in their chosen research topics, as well as extending to talented students the chance to access a world-class education program in Okinawa.
Prof. Jonathan Dorfan, an internationally recognized experimental physicist, has been selected as the President of the graduate university. As the former Director of SLAC at Stanford, he has extensive experience supporting research in particle physics and the broad range of physical, chemical and life sciences that form the diverse program of the X-ray science carried out at SLAC’s synchrotron source and its new X-ray laser.
NOTES: Telecommuting is allowed. International Candidates Will Be Considered.
