| Job Title: | Protein and Antibodies for Cancer Diagnosis, Dr. Paul Goldsmith |
| Description: |
A postdoctoral fellow position is open in the Antibody and Protein Purification Unit (APPU) at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD. We are a core unit that provides antibody design and purification services to NCI principal investigators and their staff. The APPU helps with the isolation of proteins and characterization of their post-translational modifications by mass spectroscopy. As an analytical protein facility, we design electro-chemiluminescence based assays for proteins. Current projects include the development of monoclonal antibodies to the Prolactin receptor, S100a7, and SpanxN and their use for development of Electro-chemiluminescence based ELISA assays for applications related to cancer detection and prognosis. We have developed antibodies to cancer stem cells and a major commitment of resources of our unit will be used to identify the putative cancer stem cell antigens recognized by the antibodies.
