Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated, interactive individual to join a team of basic scientists and physicians whose aim is to develop potent new immune-based approaches for the treatment of cancer. We use mouse models to develop new treatments for patients with cancer. The focus of our present efforts is on adoptively transferring tumor-specific T lymphocytes. Current projects include Wnt and cytokine signaling in the activation and differentiation of T cell. Another focus is on the genetic manipulation of T cells with micro-RNAs, transcription factors, and cell surface molecules to enhance the functions of T cells.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree. The position involves the ability to discuss scientific data and strategy with diverse members of the team and with collaborators, so fluency in the English language is required. Candidates must have an excellent understanding of T cell immunology, a detailed knowledge of how to design and perform work using mice and skill at molecular biology. Candidates at an advantage for the position will know or be willing to learn how to construct retroviruses. The successful candidate will be in an excellent position to learn a wide variety of new techniques.

Location: NCI – Clinical Research Center – Bethesda.

The position is available immediately. The appointment duration is up to 5 years. Stipends are commensurate with education and experience.
