Job Title: Interventional Oncology, Dr. Bradford Wood
Description:

The Interventional Radiology Research Lab in the Diagnostic Radiology Department at the NIH has postdoctoral fellowship openings for qualified Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. candidates interested in interventional oncology. Our lab focuses on three areas of interest: 1) "Smart" drug delivery using novel drug and device combinations, 2) Multi-modality image fusion and electromagnetic navigation, and 3) Image guided robotics. Targeted minimally invasive therapies using image guidance are essential tools for closing the gap between diagnosis and therapy. Integration of these targeted therapies into the clinic is a main focus of our translational research lab.

Some examples of postdoctoral research projects include: 1) Combining temperature sensitive liposomes and MRI-guided high intensity focus ultrasound (HIFU) for the treatment of solid tumors, 2) Combining anti-angiogenic treatments with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) of solid tumors, 3) Developing imaging methods for targeted drug delivery systems, 4) Combining ablative techniques (RFA or HIFU) with immunotherapy of solid tumors, and 5) "Smart" biopsy using electromagnetic navigation to correlate image and tissue for molecular targeted therapies.

Preferred candidates are those with backgrounds in MR imaging, drug delivery, robotics, engineering, cell biology, or medicine and an interest in interventional oncology.

Interested applicants should click on the button below or submit a CV, three letters of reference, and a cover letter outlining their research interest to:
