Based in FMC Corporation's Princeton, NJ Research Center this key R&D role is available because of continued expansion of business focus in this area. In this key senior level position, you will be able to utilize your knowledge and experience, to further develop your career.

This position is for a Senior Mammalian Toxicologist to provide expertise in support of the registration of agrochemicals worldwide.  The position requires a working knowledge of toxicology study types, experimental design, and data/results to meet global agency requirements.  This position reports to the Scientific and Regulatory Services Manager. 

Responsibilities:

Defines and works to resolve major problems coming from interactions of pesticides and a variety of mammals.  Provides understanding regarding the influences of chemical factors on the dynamics of mammalian systems.  Makes recommendations on path forward in the registration of active ingredients or formulations technologies.         

  • Conceive, plan and conduct or oversee the research of others for the toxicity testing to meet regulatory requirements and product safety concerns.
  •  Prepare critical reviews, risk assessments, white papers, and position statements related to FMC products.
  • Understand legislative and regulatory initiatives that shape the regulatory environment for the industry, gather formal and informal data, recommend in advance of competitive pressure, and influence outcomes to enhance our competitive position.
  • Alert business customers about scientific and/or regulatory information that could impact company products, registrations, and marketability.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of product defense strategy
  • Act as Study Monitor for all acute, sub-chronic and chronic toxicology studies primarily for EPA and EU, as well as, global regulatory agencies. This includes protocol preparation, test material transmittal, business agreements, and working with QA to provide final reports.
  • Review and summarize in-house toxicological study data and literature to prepare chemical hazard and risk monographs.
  • Prepare critical reviews, risk assessments, "white paper" advocacy documents, scientific rationales, position statements related to FMC products.
  • Attend professional meetings and task forces of special interest to FMC businesses (primarily agricultural products related). Publish or present scientific information at meetings and in journals.
  • Attend scientific/technical training and workshops to improve technical skills and report and train other team members on new developments.

Experience: 

  • Broad scientific knowledge in toxicology and/or physiology
  • Basic understanding of design and endpoints for routine toxicity studies
  • ffective interaction with Regulatory agencies in the US and Europe
  • Expert knowledge of GLP toxicology studies for regulatory agencies
  • Knowledge and use of Risk Assessment Models
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Project management, preparation of scientific reports, summaries, and position papers
  • Team environment - work in matrix exchanging ideas with colleagues, sharing workload with supervisor and colleagues
  • Customer focus - establish and maintain relationships with non-science, business customers and global Registrations Managers and meeting their expectations
  • Computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office products.

Education:

M.S. with 10-15 years experience or Ph.D in toxicology or Pharmacology with 5-10 years experience in the field of Mammalian toxicology with publication record.
