In this key senior level position, you will be able to utilize your knowledge and experience, to further develop your career. This role is for a senior ecological toxicologist to provide scientific and regulatory expertise and advice to support the global registration and defense of agrochemicals worldwide. The successful candidate will require a strong working knowledge of ecotoxicology study types and experimental design, interpretation of data and application to risk assessments, and potential regulatory impacts of results, to meet global regulatory agency requirements. Key Responsibilities: - Recommend toxicity tests for aquatic (fish, algae), terrestrial (vertebrates and beneficial insects), and avian species based on literature reviews, in-house data, and other sources needed to defend existing products and meet regulatory requirements. - Defend existing products and meet regulatory requirements based on literature reviews, in-house data, and other sources needed - Work with internal scientific and regulatory support colleagues, registrations managers, scientists, contract experts, and risk assessment specialists to understand hazards and risks of Agricultural Product Group (APG) products to non-target species. - Serve as Study Monitor for a broad variety of contracted studies, including acute, sub-chronic, and lifecycle ecotoxicity studies. This includes § design and initiation of studies (dose selection, protocol preparation, test material transmittal) § oversight of study conduct and management of the contract research facility, § coordination with internal and contract quality assurance auditors to ensure GLP compliance § on-time delivery of high-quality final reports § interpret and communicate data to clearly represent the hazards and potential risks of Agricultural Products Group products - Review and summarize in-house ecotoxicological study data and literature to prepare chemical monographs - Prepare critical regulatory reviews, risk assessments, "white paper" advocacy documents, and position statements related to the registration of FMC products - Alert business customers about scientific and/or regulatory initiatives that could impact company products, registrations, and marketability - Participate in professional meetings and task forces of special interest to FMC businesses (primarily agricultural products related). Publish or present scientific information at meetings and in journals - Attend scientific/technical training and workshops to improve technical skills and report on new developments - Maintain an international network of consultant experts and contract facilities in ecotoxicology. Required Experience - Broad scientific knowledge in ecology, environmental toxicology, ecological risk assessment, or similar field - Demonstrated expertise in Aquatic, Avian, or Terrestrial ecotoxicology of agricultural products - Experience writing dossiers, overviews, and interpretive scientific papers for registration submissions - Knowledge of regulatory and GLP requirements for ecotoxicology studies to support global registrations of agricultural chemicals - Project management skills for externally conducted studies - Demonstrated ability to manage work done at contract labs and with external experts - Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills - Ability to participate in a collaborative team environment. Work in matrix organization exchanging ideas with internal and external colleagues - Establish and maintain relationships with non-science business customers and meet their expectations Beneficial Experience - Worldwide registration support for agrochemical or specialty chemicals - Effective interactions with global Regulatory agencies, particularly in the US and Europe - Knowledge of principles and methodologies for estimating exposure and risk - Participation in professional scientific societies, associations, and industry-wide Task Forces Required Education MS in ecotoxicology, ecology, or environmental science with 10-15 years relevant experience, or PhD in ecotoxicology, ecology, or environmental science with 7-10 years experience.
