The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL - www.arl.psu.edu) is an integral part of The Pennsylvania State University, one of the leading research universities in the nation. We are a Center of Excellence in naval defense technologies, supporting the efforts of the U.S. Navy in developing advanced systems to protect surface ships and submarines against torpedo attack. Our Undersea Weapons Office is one of our core competencies, with experience in acoustics, signal processing, simulation, intelligent control, energy systems, systems engineering and hydrodynamics.

Right now, we're expanding our efforts to develop capabilities for the detection and defensive engagement of threat torpedoes. As a result, we're looking for Research Faculty at all levels. The individuals in these positions will use state-of-the-art software and equipment to conduct research, experiments and evaluations that test current engineering theories. You'll then use this information to develop new equipment, processes and applications and to prepare technical data and reports used in long- and short-range proposals and planning activities. Opportunities will include the following areas: system, electrical and mechanical, electronics design and test, quality assurance, transductions, software, algorithm, software test, intelligent control and autonomy, system safety, technical, program and project management, configuration management, and engineering process and procedures.
