Description:

Here's an opportunity to utilize your technical expertise in microarrays and QPCR and join Agilent Technologies Life Science Applications Support Group. As an integral member of the inside support team you will partner with the Genomics/Informatics Sales Specialists to provide technical and application support to both Agilent and Stratagene customers. In this role you will deliver technical expertise on Aglient and Stratagene genomics products. Post-sales support activities will include customer assistance with assay optimization, developing workflow solutions using both Agilent and Stratagene products and product training webinar/seminar presentations.

Responsible for providing post-sales technical and application support for both Agilent and Stratagene's Genomics products and services for external and internal customers. Work as a team with the regional sales people (FE's) and Field Applications Scientists (FAS) to provide product, application and other technical/scientific knowledge to customers. Utilize technical and interpersonal skills as well as market knowledge to help influence customers and assist them in applying both Stratagene and Agilent's products/services to their needs.


Major Responsibilities and functions:

  • Works in concert with field sales to deliver technical expertise for solution implementation to customers based on Agilent's and Stratagene's products and services.
-Ability to understand customer's problems over the phone or via email, and develop workflow solutions using Agilent and Stratagene products and services to meet their needs, and ensures customer satisfaction
  • Understands customer's problems and recommends solutions to meet their needs, and ensures customer satisfaction.
  • May perform product demonstrations to differentiate Agilent's solution from the competition.
  • Attends trade shows and workshops, including giving public oral presentations on Agilent's technology.
  • Integrates Agilent products and services into customer's environment. Ensures the product functions per specifications.
  • Will train users on hardware and software of QPCR systems.
  • May deliver customer training classes and consulting related to our applications, as well as assist in pre-sales and post-sales activities, as part of their tasks.
  • Acts as the customer voice to influence future product designs, marketing, and to communicate emerging market trends.
  • Responsible for generating Technical Notes and product webinars
  • Responsible for technical product training of the sales force.

 

Qualifications:

Key Areas of Expertise:
Must have expertise in the following key areas:

  • Microarrays - Agilent arrays: Gene Expression, ChIP-on Chip, CGH
  • QPCR - both probe and SYBR Green assay experience desired
  • Agilent Bioanalyzer
  • Use of bioinformatics software, such as GeneSpring or ArrayAssist to analyze microarray data


Education/Experience:

  • Must have a B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry. A PhD is preferred.
  • 5 years lab experience with microarrays and QPCR
  • Lab experience with Stratagene and Agilent products is a plus
  • Must be a team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and project management skills

-Ability to interface with global multidiscipline internal/external cross function teams
-Ability to demonstrate excellent outbound phone calling communication skills.
-Ability to solve a broad range of problems of varying scope and complexity.
-Proactively acts to understand customer needs and identify solutions to non-standard tasks/queries; actively creates business opportunities.
