Position: Sr. Engineering Manager

Experience : 14Yrs+

 

Primary Responsibilities:
The
Engineering Manager leads the delivery of projects against Intuit Canada/UK’s prioritized project list.  This person will work with the Group Development Leader – Shared Services in defining the project types that would be best addressed by a remote team based in India and/or a hybrid team of Canadian and Indian resources.  The person collaborates closely with Project Management Office, Product Management and other functional group leaders to develop plans and processes, make appropriate trade-offs between the best business unit solution and the best solution for the company, and streamline decision-making. The Engineering Manager leverages technical expertise and industry trends to influence development processes and product quality.

The Engineering Manager will be comfortable working with the business to understand their needs. They will also possess strong technical skills, have a career history of strong hands-on software engineering and development experience, and the tactical and visionary leadership skills to motivate, guide, and earn the respect from a highly talented engineering team.

The Engineering Manager will act as a technical leader in internal teams including managing code reviews, post project analysis and clearly articulating throughout the duration of projects what is important to the project’s success and focuses on the critical few and priorities to improve.  They will provide leadership for planning, recruiting and managing part of a world class technology, product development and application engineering team delivering a world class enterprise solutions portfolio and offering enabling services.

The Engineering Manager will have experience with software development lifecycle methodologies and frameworks such as TSP/PSP, Agile, Scrum, Test Driven Development, etc.  The Product Development Manager effectively implements SDLC, modifying it as necessary, utilizing best practices across the company and/or industry.

The Engineering Manager develops and applies highly effective team operating mechanisms to achieve the business objectives. The person is expected to continuously assess, and if necessary, redesign processes to ensure that they are repeatable, sustainable and scalable. The person drives results through proactively collaborating across organizational boundaries, and ensures end-to-end execution that most effectively delivers for the right stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Ideal candidate would have BE/BTech/MCA
• 10 to 15 years of experience in developing software systems.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in leading and managing software development teams.

• 5+ years experience leading hybrid India / North America development teams preferred
• Experience in developing enterprise solutions that cross technological segments including JAVA and C++
• A highly technical and result-oriented leader experienced in determining goals and matching those with customer requirements and product roadmaps. Adept at leading positive change, empowering people, cultivating product technology visions and innovative solutions, and fostering effective engineering teams.
• Proven track record of establishing software engineering processes that result in dramatically improved product quality, predictable schedules and short cycle times.
• Expertise and experience in strategic planning and rapid delivery of innovative, high quality software solutions for complex business problems.
• Strong decision maker and driver.
• Strong business acumen. Understands the business internal and external landscape and thinks/acts strategically for all stakeholders.
• Able to wear many hats in product development or business.
• Drives strategic technology/engine reuse, technology and architecture health, and development process improvement.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across teams, functional groups and divisions.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and methods; with multiple levels of internal stakeholders.

Travel Needs: Requires occasional travel to North America
