Primary Responsibilities:

The Principal Engineer is expected to have extensive leadership experience to guide the development team in technology matters. The engineer will work with other developers, QA engineers, project managers, and product managers to ensure that the application exceeds the customer's expectations.  The features developed must be functionally complete, reliable, easy to use, and supportable and meet the performance targets.

Technical/Functional Skills:

Strong knowledge of OOD principles, with ability to map them to Java/J2ee  ..

 Proven Desktop and / or Online development experience

 Ability to work with diverse platforms and describe interoperability paths between platforms and technologies (Web services, COM/COM+, XML/XSLT, SQL, Message Queues, SOAP, etc...)

 System integration & web app development and deployment experience is plus

 Experience with TSP/PSP and/or Agile methodologies is a plus.

 UML and Use of enterprise design tools is preferred.

 User interface-oriented design and development experience
 BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
 7-12 years of software industry experience
 5+ years of experience with  Java/J2ee  object oriented language.  

 Test driven development and knowledge of test automation frameworks a plus.
 Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
 Experience driving engineering and cross-functional teams.
 "Self-starter" attitude and the ability to make decisions independently.
 Understanding of accounting needs of small to medium sized businesses is a plus.

- Collaborates effectively with peer engineers and architects to solve complex problems spanning their respective areas to deliver end-to-end quality in our technology and customer experience.
- Effectively arbitrates and resolves technological disagreement with informed, rational debate.
- Leads cross-functional product development teams.
- Mentors/coaches engineers to facilitate their development.
- Influences development managers to insure appropriate levels of quality on owned technologies.
- Influences and communicates effectively with non-technical audiences including senior product and business management
