The research centers on questions related to acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and how these diseases represent a dysregulation of normal myeloid cell development. One focus has been the identification of new oncogenic regions of the genome using retroviral insertional mutagenesis. The research project will involve the development of animal models to test the oncogenicity of genetic regions targeted by the mutagenetic screen.
