Job Title: AIDS-Associated Malignancy: Kaposi's Sarcoma Associated Herpesvirus (KSHV)-Related Tumors, Dr. Robert Yarchoan
Description:

A postdoctoral fellowship is available in the HIV and AIDS Malignancy Branch (HAMB), Center for Cancer Research, NCI to study Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), also called human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8). The focus of this position will be the study of the pathogenesis of KSHV-associated tumors and the application of this understanding to the development of novel pathogenesis-based therapies. Ongoing research in the laboratory includes the study of interactions between KSHV and hypoxia, and the activation of KSHV by hypoxia and other physiologic stimuli. There is the potential to engage in translational research involving Kaposi's sarcoma or KSHV-associated multicentric Castleman’s disease. Applicants should be highly motivated and have relatively recently obtained a Ph.D. and/or M.D. with a strong background in molecular virology, especially as it applies to gammaherpesviruses. Information about the lab can be found at http://ccr.cancer.gov/staff/staff.asp?profileid=5564.
