Job Title: Postdoctoral position in Molecular Biology/Pharmacology
Description:

Available immediately, multi-year, NIH-funded post-doc to study control of gene expression by nuclear receptor coactivators/corepressors in organotypic and mouse models. This project focuses on transcriptional and cellular responses to compounds relevant to pharmacology (anti-diabetic glitazones and chemotherapeutic retinoids) and toxicology (peroxisome proliferators). Our laboratory has isolated several novel PPAR (peroxisome proliferator activated receptor) & RAR (retinoic acid receptor) coregulator proteins. We are examining their mechanisms of transcriptional control and in turn contribution to cell growth and regulation of differentiation. Studies are relevant to several tissue types and differentiating cells (epithelial, muscle, adipose) regulated by glitazones, retinoids and other steroid hormones. A knock-out mouse for one of the coregulators is currently being developed. We have excellent physical & intellectual environments in a new 221,000 sqft building in the Life Sciences Quad. UConn is a research-extensive university and the highest ranked public university in New England. Applicants should have cell and/or molecular biology experience (e.g., transfections, promoter analysis, mouse knockouts, chromatin immunoprecipitation assays; expertise with the latter two preferred), strong communication abilities and data analysis skills. To apply, send by e-mail a letter with expected date of availability, CV with description of relevant experience, and contact information for 3 references to: brian.aneskievich@uconn.edu Dr. Brian Aneskievich Pharmacology & Toxicology Program Dept.
