DETAILED DESCRIPTION:   Applications are being invited for one tenure-track opening at the Assistant Professor level for Fall 2008 (or until position is filled) in the John D. Hromi Center for Quality and Applied Statistics, in RIT's Kate Gleason College of Engineering. Exceptional candidates may be considered at the Associate Professor level.

In the position, the candidate would teach graduate (M.S., Applied Statistics) and undergraduate courses, both in on-campus and dynamic online formats, and advise graduate students. He or she would also develop curricula and balance this work with engagement in scholarship activities. Opportunities also exist for consulting and seminars through the Center.

THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT: 

The department, with six faculty members, has approximately 75 graduate students, many of whom are working professionals in broad variety of fields, including engineering and the physical sciences, finance and banking, and medicine and the health sciences.

The Kate Gleason College of Engineering (KGCOE) at RIT is the nation's premier career-oriented college of engineering. The Graduate Statistics department is one of six departments (among Computer, Electrical, Industrial and Systems, Mechanical, and Microelectronic Engineering) in the KGCOE. The department offers an M.S. in Applied Statistics, two graduate certificates, and courses that support various degree programs across the University. The department resides within the Center for Quality and Applied Statistics, which has achieved international recognition for excellence in the fields of quality management and applied statistics. QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • 1. Ph.D. in Statistics or closely related discipline.

PREFERRED:

  • 1. Excellence in teaching and communication skills.
  • 2. Experience in statistical consulting and applications.
  • 3. Interest in a broad range of statistical methods.
