Job Title: Research Officer, Japan Active Equity
Description:

BGI is seeking a senior Research Officer to provide leadership in the research agenda for Japan active equity strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead research for Japan active equities and work on specific signal research
  • Innovate; add new signals to the model; improve existing model
  • Collaborate with research colleagues in Japan and globally
  • Ensure efficient and timely implementation of research in portfolios
  • Provide guidance and feedback to junior researchers and develop the team

 

Qualifications

  • At least 5-7 years of industry or academic experience (with some industry experience) in Finance/Economics/Investment Management, with advanced degree in Finance/Economics or a related field
  • Strong programming skills
  • Japan equity market experience and language ability a plus
  • An experienced researcher with broad capabilities
  • Have the ability to innovate and implement original ideas quickly into live production
  • Understand markets and investment management. Actual fund performance out of sample is what matters.
  • Have a strong skill set to do research within the BGI framework
  • Have economic insight into mathematical construction of data and signals
  • Have strong quantitative modeling and empirical research skills
  • Be a team player as well as having leadership skills
  • Have high personal integrity and a passion for scientific investing
  • Have strong communication & presentation skills
