Job Title: Molecular Neurobiology, Dr. Barry Kaplan
Description:

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), Section on Neurobiology in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, seeks one Postdoctoral Fellow.

This position in molecular neurobiology will study the function and intracellular trafficking of a diverse population of mRNAs located in the axon and presynaptic nerve terminal. The expression and function of several novel genes derived from this mRNA population are being evaluated, using cultured primary sympathetic neurons as an experimental model system. The regulation of the local protein synthesis in the axon and nerve terminal is also being investigated.

The position is now open. Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and have less than five years of previous postdoctoral training. A background in neuroscience with previous experience in molecular/cellular biology is required.

NIMH is a major research component of the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Health and Human Services, which have nationwide responsibility for improving the health and well being of all Americans.
