The D. E. It seeks an exceptionally gifted individual for the role of Network Engineer in its IT Systems group. Candidates should have excellent network management, troubleshooting, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a high-paced, demanding environment.

Responsibilities:

• Support the D. E. Shaw group’s global network infrastructure
• Deploy state-of-the-art multi-vendor networking gear
• Document LAN troubleshooting/installation policies and procedures

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical discipline
• 1+ years of experience working in an Enterprise or ISP network management role
• Good knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals (including Layers 2, 4-7, and content switching)
• Experience with configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco network gear
• Good understanding of LAN networking technologies (Spanning-Tree, HSRP, and VRRP)
• Understanding of network routing protocols (OSPF and BGP)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities
• Experience with UNIX (Solaris/Linux) administration is a definite plus
• Network certifications (such as CCNA, CCNP) is preferred but not required
